Quarry Bank (National Trust), Styal

Quarry Bank at Styal is one of Britain’s best-preserved cotton mills, set in a wooded river valley and cared for by the National Trust, around 20 minutes’ drive from Lapland UK Manchester at Capesthorne Hall.

In December the Trust runs bookable Father Christmas sessions here: private family visits with a gift for each child, plus quieter, neurodivergent-friendly sessions and baby and toddler festive play sessions on selected dates. Tickets must be booked online in advance.

Outside the festive sessions, the mill, the estate walks along the River Bollin and the on-site parking make it a good family day out any time. Check National Trust opening times for your date.
